our story

in the beginning

After immigrating to the United States with his family from their native Cuba, Antonio “Tony” Arruza started SSI Petroleum in 1964. Originally named Sugar Supply, Inc. and incorporated in the small town of Belle Glade, FL, Tony sought to service the burgeoning agricultural industry with in areas surrounding Belle Glade, FL with various products and services. Under his leadership, the company decided to concentrate on fuels and lubricants as it eventually expanded beyond the agricultural industry. Now, over 50 years later, his commitment to providing customers with best-in-class service lives on as SSI proudly continues doing business with many of its original customers. From it’s humble beginnings in Belle Glade, FL, SSI now operates from the Florida Keys through Central Florida and everywhere in between.
